11/9/2019 - Southampton Fire Department Graduates 14 Confined Space Technicians
The Southampton Fire Department recently had 14 members earn certification in Technical rescue as confined space technicians. The first big step towards the formation of a confined space and rope rescue team. Having members go through this intense and regular training allows the department to provide a service to the community that currently must wait for up island teams to respond from upwards of 60 minutes out.
8/25/2019 - Southampton Fire Department Hosts 2019 Water/Ocean Rescue Operations and Technician Certification Course
The Southampton Fire Department hosted a Water Rescue Technician course this past weekend. Firefighters from Southampton, Mastic Beach FD and Huntington Manor FD came together over the two day course to cover surface water rescue, management of aquatic based injuries, and rescue swimmer evolutions with 17 students graduating/refreshing as Water Rescue Technicians with additional personnel trained to the Awareness and OPS level. Only one step towards protecting our waterways to the best of the department's ability.

3/17/2018 - Southampton Fire Department in Dublin, Ireland
The Southampton Fire Department was honored to be invited to march along side the Dublin Fire Brigade in their 2018 St. Patricks Day parade. Nearly 35 Southampton firefighters made the journey across the puddle for this truly unique experience.
7/23/2017 - SFD and Southampton Village Ambulance Complete Water Rescue Technician Course
The Southampton Fire Department recently hosted a Water Rescue Technician course. The Water Rescue Technician (WRT) Course is a fast-paced, comprehensive 13-hour training and educational program specifically designed for Public Safety and Rescue Professionals, including Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, EMS and Lifeguard Personnel. This intense classroom and hands on based course is based off of a training curriculum by Lifesaving Resources out of Kennebunkport Maine. The department sent 3 members to Maine last Spring for a course to become water rescue and swift water rescue instructors. The course, led by Southampton Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Alfred Callahan and Firefighter Travis Corwin, marks the first time this level of training has been brought back to the department as a whole.
15 Members from the Southampton Fire Department and the Southampton Village Ambulance completed the course with 10 becoming water rescue technicians, 1 becoming an Operational Safety Officer, and 4 training to the awareness level. The training included a 5 hour classroom course followed by an intense full day of hands on training in both the pool and local ocean. Members learned the proper techniques for shore based rescue with floatation aids as well as how to perform “live bait” rescues as a rescue swimmer making direct contact with a distressed or drowning victim. |
6/3/2017 - Annual Award Dinner
Southampton Fire Department was proud to recognize several members for their outstanding commitment to the department for the 2016 year. Christopher Capalbo was recognized as the department Officer of the Year for 2016 and Tara Collins was recognized as the department Firefighter of the Year. The department also recognized Brian Cook with the 2016 Chief's Appreciation award and Rachael Hulse as the Rookie of the Year. A full write up with photos will follow soon.
3/4/2017 - Comedy Show Fundraiser
The Southampton Fire Department is home to the oldest motorized ladder truck in the US and now is your chance to help restore it. Come spend the evening on March 4th at the Fire House located at 470 Hampton Road starting at 8 PM. 1/14/2017 - Southampton Hockey Team Spaghetti Dinner Saturday January 21st
Come spend the evening at the Hampton Road Fire House, located at 470 Hampton Road, as a way to show your support for the Southampton Fire Department Hockey Team! The dinner will take place between 5 and 9 PM with a fee for adults of $12 and children twelve and under $8. Take- out options will also be available.

Captain Christopher Capalbo of the Agawam Engine Company was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his actions at a working fire this past year.

The Southampton Fire Department announced the 2015 Firefighter of the Year to be FF Jeremy McMahon of Agawam Engine Company and the Officer of the Year Captain Patrick Collins of Agawam Hose Company.

8/17/2015 - Southampton Edges Out Bridgehampton 14-6 in Summer Softball Exhibition
The Southampton Fire Department met Bridgehampton Fire Department on the Softball field for a summer exhibition match. Tied 6-6 going into the seventh and final inning, Southampton rallied scoring 8 runs to pull ahead to a final victory of 14-6. Bridgehampton hosted the team, spectators, and families after the game for food. It was an enjoyable evening, first of many we hope. Stay tuned for pictures.
7/25/2015 - Southampton Fire Department Battles Five Alarm Fire
The Southampton Fire Department was called to the scene of a residential structure fire at 12:23 PM for a report of smoke coming from a residence. Upon arrival, units found heavy smoke coming from the residence. Departments were brought in from North Sea, Hampton Bays, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, East Quogue, Westhampton Beach, Sag Harbor, and Flanders. Several firefighters were treated and transported by Southampton Village EMS for minor injuries related to smoke inhalation. Units cleared the scene shortly after 10 PM. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the village fire marshal.
7/20/2015 - Save the date! Southampton Fire Department September Antique Muster
The Southampton Fire Department will be holding its 34th annual Antique Truck & Muster on September 12th 2015 at 10 AM. The event will be at Agawam Park on Pond Lane in downtown Southampton Village. Fire departments submitting teams for competitions as well as trucks for the parade can press below for more information.
This event consists of Inter-Department competitions, an antique truck parade / showcase, and great food. Fun for the whole family. Save the date!

5/09/2015 - Southampton Fire Department Battles Third Alarm Blaze
The Southampton Fire Department battled a 3 alarm structure fire on Montauk Highway in Water Mill this morning. The alarm was initially received at 0909 Saturday morning and confirmed as a working fire several minutes later. First arriving units found a heavy smoke condition. The fire was located in the basement and crews made a push. With the assistance of five area departments, the fire was brought under control quickly and FD units cleared the scene shortly before noon. Montauk Highway was closed to traffic in both directions for access to hydrant location. For videos, pictures, and more information check out the Southampton Press coverage at 27East.com below.

The Southampton Fire Department will be holding a blood drive tomorrow, March 24th starting at 12 NOON. The drive will be at the Hampton Road Firehouse located at Hampton Road / Narrow Lane in Southampton Village.
