Southampton Fire Department Local Fire Prevention

The Southampton Fire Department is dedicated to the safety of our community. Fire Prevention is a key safety tool used by the department to educate both the youth and adults of the community. Each year, the department visits local schools, camps, and private functions with trucks and educational material to give the community a hands on opportunity to learn how to keep homes and places of business safe.

The department's fire prevention trailer, a specially modified mobile home, is equipped as a mobile fire prevention classroom. The trailer has the ability to simulate conditions found in hurricanes as well as provide live smoke behavior demonstrations. Our "Get Low and Go" approach to fire in a home helps educate youth on the importance of staying low in emergencies involving fire and smoke as well as the importance of reaching safety.
