Robin Owens, the first woman to receive the Southampton Fire Department's "Firefighter of the Year" award. For the first time since the Southampton Fire Department was founded 127 years ago, a woman has been honored as its “Firefighter of Year.”

Tragic Water Rescue on Meadow Lane

Southampton Fire Department was dispatched to a frigid water rescue shortly after 2pm on Monday, February 18th. Moments after arriving on scene it was determined that there was an unconscious person still in the vehicle.

 

MVA on CR39 / Sandy Hollow Rd

The SFD responded to an MVA on CR39 and Sandy Hollow Rd. Upon arrival it was determined to be a head on collision between a Roll-off carrier and a van.

At 8:06am the Southampton Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire on CR 39 near Sandy Hollow Rd. Upon the arrival of Chief Corr it was determined that it was a fully envolved stretched limo suv.

EX-Chief Charles Holmes Has Answered His Last Alarm

It is with deepest regret that the Southampton Fire Department must annouce the passing of fellow brother firefighter Charlie Holmes. As an EX-Chief, Agawam Engine Captain, Rescue Squad Member, Department Treasurer, and 48 year member Charlie played a major roll in the history of the Southampton Fire Departments history. He will surely be missed.

Local Firefighters Recognized

1/27/2007

Southampton Village honored Captain Dean McNamara, 2nd Lieutenant Jason Poremba and Firefighter Ted Duffey of Agawam Engine for their valor at the Hillcrest Avenue fire in January. Tragically, Lawrence Crippen, 81, perished in the fire. Members of the Crippen family thanked Dean, Jason and Ted for their brave efforts. Southampton police officers and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance members were also honored at a ceremony at Village Hall on February 8. Mayor Mark Epley presented letters of commendation and thanks. On Saturday December 30, the Southampton Fire Department was called out to a confirmed working structure fire in a one story residence on Downs Path. Under the direction of Chief Engineer Brian P Cooke, the Southampton Fire Department made the attack.
